What is Sales Tax?
Sales tax is a government-imposed tax on the sale of goods and services. It may apply to purchases like Memberships, content, or physical goods on Passes, depending on your location.
Does Passes charge sales tax?
If required by law, Passes collects sales tax at checkout. It will be added to your total and shown before you complete your purchase
How does sales tax appear on my receipt?
Physical goods receipts will show the exact amount of tax collected
Processing fees are listed separately and are not combined with sales tax
If the same tax applies to different items, it appears as a single tax line. If different taxes apply, they may be listed separately (though this is rare)
Who pays the sales tax?
As a consumer, you’re responsible for paying any required sales tax
If Passes collects the tax, we send it to the appropriate tax authority
If no tax is collected, but it’s required, you may need to pay it directly
Why am I being charged sales tax now?
Tax laws can change. If your area now requires it, Passes collects and adds sales tax at checkout
Is sales tax included in the price I see?
Not always. Sales tax is often added at checkout, along with any processing fees. You’ll see the full total before payment
Creators: What do I need to know about taxes?
As a Creator, you’re responsible for understanding and handling taxes on your sales. Passes may deduct taxes and fees before paying you your share of the Net Consideration (total sales minus fees, taxes, and processing costs)
